He has been doing this because we generally do not take false doctrine as seriously as we should.

The Holy Spirit, through the apostle, says that false teaching is gangrene to the body. The definition of gangrene is: "localized death and decomposition of body tissue, resulting from either obstructed circulation or bacterial infection." Once a part of the body of Christ is infected with false doctrine, it sets in like gangrene and that part of the body (congregation) begins to die.
